1-800-Flowers.com has projected it will report $230 million in sales for second quarter that ended Dec. 26, reflecting an 8% increased in sales driven largely by an 18% growth in online revenues.
Sales of company’s home and garden gift product line grew about 11% in December, reversing a decline in sales in fiscal 2004 and the beginning of the present fiscal year. 1-800-Flowers plans to release its official second quarter figures on Jan. 18.
The company said it stepped up investments in direct marketing, broadcast advertising, search engine and affiliate marketing, which it attributes to a strong December finish for holiday sales.
