Great Universal Stores, London, created the Third Party Services unit, designed to help retailers and manufacturers deliver online services and to help boost GUS’ flagging stock, according to published reports. Direct marketing sales fell 5% in the second quarter.
The new division comes after GUS bought Reality Group Ltd., a consultancy specializing in e-commerce Web design, for $53 million.
The new unit will deliver Web design and home delivery services and will trade under the name Reality. In addition, GUS formed gusco.com, for Internet investments not related to GUS’s current activities.
