Gryphon Service to Stop Unwanted Telemarketing Calls

Gryphon Networks Corp. and Intermedia Communications have introduced a system they claim prevents telemarketers from calling consumers who have asked not to be solicited.

All a telemarketer must do is punch two keys on a touch-tone telephone, to block all future calls to a consumer who has requested to be added to a company Do Not Call list. Currently, 15 states and the federal government have Do Not Call laws in place.

Gryphon’s Do Not Call service, which will run over Intermedia’s frame relay and long distance telephone networks, is being rolled out in Tampa, FL this week. The service will be expanded to New York later this month and to other cities by the end of the year.
