A coalition of advertising and marketing professionals led by Nick Nyhan, president of Dynamic Logic and Cory Treffiletti, a managing director at Carat Interactive, have founded Safecount, an organization seeking to promote the development of procedures and policies for measuring digital media that take privacy concerns into account.
The organization has established a Web site Safecount.org to facilitate discussion concerning consumers’ privacy concerns and the needs of advertisers for timely and relevant consumer information.
“We need these policies to prevent the Internet and other forms of digital media from becoming full of the kind of clutter that both advertisers and consumers loathe. Our goal is to help industry identify measurement methods that safeguard consumer privacy,” the founders said in a prepared statement.
The group plans to form committees to address issues related online media measurement.
