After the state of Ohio offered Gap Inc. a number of financial incentives to bring its business to the state, it will open a $130 million office and distribution center for its e-commerce and catalog business in Groveport.
The move creates 2,500 new jobs, Ohio Gov. Bob Taft Taft’s office said in a statement.
The offer includes a 10-year, 75 percent job creation tax credit; a $2.5 million sales-tax exemption on warehouse equipment; and up to $1.2 million in training grants.
The Gap complex in Groveport currently includes a 270,000-square-foot building Gap has owned since 1998, which supports the online operations for its Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic brands, as well as the Banana Republic catalog. The expansion will include a 425,000 square-foot facility that Gap will lease. Gap will also build an 830,000-square-foot plant on an adjacent plot.
