Reacting to intense media coverage of the growing number of overweight children and concerns about trans fatty acids, Frito-Lay yesterday launched a campaign to promote its snack chips that have zero grams of the fats.
The print campaign runs in 25 of the nation’s top newspapers, by circulation, in both English and Spanish, the company said.
Chip brands that are touted as having zero trans fats include Lay’s Doritos, Tostitos, Fritos, Ruffles and Cheetos.
A federal judge ruled in July that manufacturers were required to include trans fat information on nutrition labels.
