French agency Havas Advertising SA and Snyder Communications Inc. may merge, according to the Financial Times of London. While Snyder may wish to sell — and hired Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown to explore a sale as one strategic alternative — and Havas may wish to buy — it has ambitious plans to expand — the negotiations may fail. The WWP Group dropped out of the auction reportedly because it felt the possible $2.5 billion price tag is too high.
