Revolution, the Chicago-based integrated sports marketing and media services agency, has hired Bob Lachky, a former top level executive with Anheuser-Busch. The position takes effect Aug. 1.
Lachky has been named senior advisor and will work with the agency’s executive team to help facilitate growth and expansion in the sports-lifestyle marketing channel.
“Bob brings a rare expertise to rEvolution from having worked at the highest level on the client side at one of the best brands in the world,” Revolution President John Rowady said in a release. “Having managed the relationship with a variety of agencies at Anheuser-Busch, he brings to our team unique insight into what makes a great agency in today’s changing marketplace.”
Most recently, Lachky worked for Anheuser-Busch as executive vice president, global industry development and chief creative officer. He assumed the GID position in 2005 to help improve A-B’s image with industry groups and the public.
After joining Anheuser-Busch in 1989, Lachky is credited with developing some of the most unique campaigns, including “Wassup?!,” the Budweiser frogs and the “Real Men of Genius” radio campaign. During his tenure Anheuser-Busch he was recognized as a world leader in advertising, winning the Grand Prix award at Cannes, a Grand Clio award, a television Emmy and the USA Today Super Bowl Ad Meter for 10 years in a row, Revolution said. He left Anheuser-Busch in February 2009. Since then he has done some creative consulting work, most recently with online brokerage firm Scottrade.
“The agency industry and marketing overall is in a major state of change,” Lachky said in a release. “Brand marketers need a complete reassessment of their marketing needs. On the agency side, what attracted me to Revolution is their unique business model—integration built from the ground up. I’m excited about the opportunity to work with John and his team as we are both major proponents of driving creative messaging through a larger set of communication channels.”
