Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Federated Department Stores, Inc., Cincinnati, has formed Federated Direct, a new division that will include its Macy’s By Mail, Macys.Com, and newly-acquired Fingerhut businesses. William J. Lansing, president of Fingerhut, will oversee Federated Direct operations, and will report to Federated vice chairman Ronald W. Tysoe.

Fingerhut will handle operations, distribution and fulfillment for the Macy’s By Mail catalog and the Macys.Com e-commerce operations, as well as for existing Fingerhut businesses. Fingerhut will also be responsible for distribution and fulfillment for Bloomingdale’s By Mail.

Under the new corporate structure, Macy’s By Mail president Ronald L. Ramseyer will report to Michael Sherman, executive VP of business development for Fingerhut; Macy’s By Mail operations will remain in Brooklyn. Macys.Com president Kent Anderson will report to Andrew V Johnson, president of Internet business for Fingerhut; the Macys.Com organization will remain based in San Francisco.

The creation of Federated Direct is “an important strategic move that enables Federated to take immediate and full advantage of the distribution, fulfillment and data management expertise that resides within the Fingerhut organization,” said Tysoe in a statement.
