Express Engines and Bigfoot Interactive, two vendors specializing in e-mail marketing services, have agreed to merge, the firms announced today. The resulting company will operate as Bigfoot Interactive.
Al Diguido, CEO of Expression Engines, will serve as CEO of the new company. Jim Hoffman, co-founder of Bigfoot Interactive, will be chief strategy officer.
Fred Wilson, managing partner of Flatiron Partners, an investor in Expression Engines, will serve as chairman of the board. Also named to the board are Gil Fuschberg, principal at J.P. Morgan Partners; Dathan Gaskill of Acxiom Corp; Stephen Hall, managing director of Axalon Ventures; and Lance Maerov, senior vice president of Grey Ventures, the venture capital arm of Grey Global Group.
Both firms offer an array of services for companies doing permission-based e-mail marketing.
New York-based Expression Engines is a privately held company. Its investors include Flatiron Partners, J.P. Morgan Partners, Grey Ventures, Axalon Ventures and HPJ Media Ventures.
Bigfoot Interactive, also based in New York, works with such strategic partners as Acxiom, Modem Media, Dimac, Nexgenix and RTC Direct. Its clients have included MCI Worldcom, GlaxSmithKline, The Washington Post/Newsweek Interactive, World Wildlife Fund and Unilever Cosmetics International.
