According to a report from Silverpop, education and health care companies get the highest average click-through rates (CTRs) on email marketing campaigns. The education industry gets a mean CTR of 5.8 percent, with its top quartile achieving a CTR of 12.8 percent. The health care sector gets a mean CTR of 4.2 percent, with its top quartile achieving a CTR of 9.9 percent.
Silverpop notes that the higher CTRs in these industries may be attributed to content that relies more on news and information rather than promotions.
The education sector also boasts a mean open rate of 26.2 percent, the highest of any industry in the study. The consumer products industry follows with a mean open rate of 23.8 percent.
According to GetResponse, emails with social sharing buttons get an average CTR of 6.2 percent, which is 158 percent higher than the 2.4 percent CTR for emails without those buttons.
