EBay Inc. reported net income of $291.6 million for the second quarter, up from $190.4 last year.
The online marketplace reported net revenue of $1.1 billion for the quarter ended June 30, up over $773.4 million last year.
“EBay achieved remarkable results in the second quarter.” said Meg Whitman, CEO of the San Jose, CA company. “Excellent momentum in the U.S and Germany, as well as at PayPal, all helped deliver an impressive jump in revenues and profit.”
In addition, more than 724,000 Americans reported that EBay is their primary or secondary source of income. And another 1.5 million individuals said they supplement their income by selling on eBay, according to the July 2005 ACNielsen survey.
