E-Mail Marketing Spending To Grow To $4.6 Billion

Total expenditures on e-mail marketing in the U.S. will grow 417% from $898 million last year to $4.6 billion by year-end 2003 and U.S. firms will at the same time increase their spending on e-mail ads by from $97 million in 1999 to $2 billion in 2003, according to market research firm eMarketer.

The report also estimates that e-mail advertising’s share of total online advertising spending in the U.S. will increase from 3% in 1999 to 15% by 2003.

The report indicates that 61% of medium-large size companies in the U.S. use e-mail on a regular basis to market to prospects and/or customers.
