E-mail Erroneously Tells Kellogg Sweeps’ Entrants They Won

Kellogg Co. and American Airlines continue the 25,000 Miles-a-Day sweepstakes despite a computer glitch that erroneously sent winning messages to thousands of entrants last weekend.

American AAdvantage members were told they had won the grand-prize of 25,000 frequent flier miles. But the April 7 through June 5 sweeps was meant to award only 60 grand prizes, one each day, Kellogg spokesperson Chris Ervin said yesterday.

“The program was back running as it should be on Monday,” she said.

Battle Creek, MI-based Kellogg and Dallas-based American apologized for the error and will give 500 miles per household as a goodwill gesture.
