Worldwide sales of software that run e-commerce systems will quadruple to $2.8 billion a year by 2002, according to Reuters.
British IT analysts Datamonitor said most of the growth would be in trade between companies rather than the more visible business-to-consumer market. The latter accounted for 41% of electronic commerce software sales in 1997, but this share will be almost halved to just 22% by 2002.
