dELiA*s Inc., a cataloger and retailer based in New York, reported a net loss of $6.06 million for the quarter ended July 31., an increase over $143,000 for the same period a year ago.
Net sales for the second quarter increased 26% to $33.4 million from $26.5 million in the second quarter of last year.
The company attributed these results to lower circulation of the company’s summer catalogs and to lower sales its TSI Soccer subsidiary.
Diluted earnings per share for the first half of fiscal 1999, including a one-time gain and a one-time charge both recorded in the first quarter, grew to $1.19 on 15.8 million shares, compared to 14 cents on 13.6 million shares for the same period a year ago.
Net sales for the first half of fiscal 1999 increased 30% to $75.2 million from $57.6 million for the first half of last year.
