Catalog Circ Cuts Slash Delia’s Direct Sales

A 14% reduction in catalog circulation took 22% of Delia’ Corp.’s direct revenue. New store openings caused the young women’s apparel and merchandise marketer to rack up $26.2 million in sales, only slightly higher than second quarter 2001’s $26 million.

But the company did manage to trim its net loss to $7 million from $11 million a year ago. Second quarter 2001’s loss included $3.6 million in restructuring and one-time charges.

The New York based marketer did not break its direct and retail sales out separately. Its quarter ended Aug. 3.
