Campbell Mithun Taps Rooney

Campbell Mithun hired Miller Brewing Co. veteran Jack Rooney as president of the Minneapolis-based agency.

Rooney joins Campbell Mithun on Sept. 15. He had been executive VP-client management at GMR Marketing since 2002, and was Ogilvy & Mather’s global team leader on its BP account.

Rooney was VP-marketing at Milwaukee-based Miller in the late 1990s, where he spearheaded Miller Lite’s controversial “Dick” ad campaign that drew criticism from distributors. Rooney left Miller in 1999.

Before Miller, Rooney worked on at three San Francisco ad agencies, as founding partner of Leagas Delaney; worldwide account director for Levi Strauss & Co. at FCB; and at Hal Riney & Partners, handling Anheuser-Busch.

Rooney’s “unique experience in total marketing communications further strengthens our ‘full contact marketing’ approach to building our clients’ businesses,” said Campbell Mithun CEO Les Mouser in a statement.
