Brylane to Axe 5% of its Executives

Brylane, Inc., the New York-based cataloger, will cut 5% of its managerial workforce as it restructures into three new divisions: the special size group, misses apparel group and home lifestyles group.

The move is an effort to cut costs and enhance product development and customer service, the company said.

Company chairman/CEO Russell Stravitz refused to detail exactly how many employees were let go but noted they were all executive level and middle level managerial level. Brylane employs a total of about 8,000 people.

He also declined to reveal what cost savings these firings would bring.

The special size group, which includes Lane Bryant, Roamans and King Size catalogs, will be run in New York by executive vice president Kevin Doyle. The Misses Apparel Group, consisting of Chadwick’s, Lerner and Jessica London will be managed by home lifestyles group president Steve Goldberg for the time being. The Home Lifestyle Group offers domestics.
