Miller Brewing Company president and CEO John Bowlin resigned last week and will be replaced by Norman Adami, chairman and managing director of London-based South African Breweries (SAB), which bought Miller last year. Adami will relocate from Johannesburg to Milwaukee.
Bowlin–formerly president of Kraft Foods–joined Miller four years ago. As the second-largest brewer behind St. Louis-based Anheuser-Busch, Miller has been suffering a sales slump, losing further ground to AB while third-place Coors has embarked on an aggressive marketing campaign to gain market share.
Philip Morris (which recently switched its name to Altria Group) sold Miller to SAB last year for $3.6 billion in stock and assumption of $2 billion in debt.
