BET Drops Infomericals in Favor of Inspirational Programming

Black Entertainment Television, a cable network geared toward African Americans, will change its lineup on July 1. Infomercials will no longer be part of its programming, and BET will program gospel and inspirational shows in their slots.

“Our research indicated an interest among BET viewers in seeing more inspirational programming and variety in our early morning and Sunday afternoon timeslots,” Debra L. Lee, BET’s president and chief operating officer, said in a statement.

BET officials were not available at deadline to comment on which infomercial sponsors would be dropped.
