The American Teleservices Association will start up a self-regulatory organization composed of stakeholders in the teleservices industry.
The board would include representatives from the ATA and other major trade associations whose members use call centers. The group will also include industry members and consumer groups.
The group, which is set to begin operations Jan. 1, will initially focus on ensuring knowledge and compliance with existing state and federal laws, but plans to develop standards in areas where little Federal or state legislation exists.
