Arby’s, Outback Steakhouse Names New CMOs

Arby’s restaurant group has named Cheryl Barre as the new CMO for Arby’s and president of Arby’s Franchise Association. She will replace Debbie Pike, who announced plans to retire this year.

In her new position, Barre will oversee strategic brand marketing efforts, including product development, national and field marketing, advertising, media consumer insights and research for the brand. Barre recently worked as senior VP-retail marketing for Georgia-Pacific Corp., where she helped create and execute marketing plans for Quilted Northern, and Angel Soft tissue, Brawny and Sparkle towels and Vanity Fair napkins. She also held positions at Russell Corp. and with PepsiCo.

In other news, OSI Restaurant Partners has named Jody Bilney as CMO of Outback Steakhouse, a new title for the brand, effective Oct. 1. She replaces Fulton Smith-Sykes, who previously worked as VP-marketing.

In her new role, Bilney will oversee marketing initiatives for Outback Steakhouse. She most recently served as CMO at Openwave Systems, Inc., a leader in mobile data and messaging where she lead the company’s branding and corporate marketing. Prior to that, she worked as executive VP and CMO at Charles Schwab & Co., where she oversaw brand strategy and marketing efforts for its retail, product, institutional and e-business divisions.
