Annual Show Registration Up 32% After DMA Promotion

The Direct Marketing Association sent out a marketing e-mail on Monday saying the annual conference in Chicago is “full-speed ahead,” in spite of rumors that attendance is down.

A promotion the DMA conducted to pay airfare for people who registered for the conference by Oct. 5th and to get those registrants a deal on hotel rooms got a positive response. “If you compare week by week with last year, our registration went up 32%,” said Christina Duffney, DMA spokesperson.

She said it is DMA policy not to reveal attendance figure. “Obviously, the numbers would be down slightly from last year, because Chicago isn’t as big a pull as New Orleans is,” she added.

The DMA annual conference events start on Oct. 27 and run through Oct. 31.
