The Advertising Mail Marketing Association, Arlington, VA, will change its name to the Association for Postal Commerce, or PostCom, effective Jan. 1. According to the company, the name change will reflect a new direction in the organization’s mission: to focus on all matters that affect the use of mail as a medium of commerce and business communication.
“In the era of Internet, many of our members have come to recognize that even if you sell a product on the Internet, you still must have a postal infrastructure to fulfill the orders and ship the goods,” said AMMA President Gene Del Polito in a steatement. But, he added, the postal system has changed and is under increasing pressure from competitors.
