Actors Help Political Group in Ohio

Martin Sheen, who plays a liberal Democratic president on “The West Wing,” will host an Aug. 14 fundraiser in Cleveland for an Ohio-based campaign against President Bush, according to a report in the Associated Press.

Sheen and some other actors are honorary cochairmen of Bring Ohio Back, or BOB, which was started by Ohio strategists Jeff Rusnak and Gerald Austin. Rusnak told the AP the group hopes to raise $1.2 million for campaigning, direct mail and some radio and television advertising.

A Bush campaign spokesman called the effort “the same tired song and dance” by the Kerry campaign, according to the report.
