Nine Hispanic and Asian plaintiffs have sued Abercrombie & Fitch for discrimination, according to the Associated Press.
The lawsuit against Abercrombie & Fitch, known for promoting a “casual classic American lifestyle,” accuses the company of preferring to hire a white sales force.
The suit, filed on Monday, alleges that the marketer recruits salespeople from overwhelmingly white fraternities and sororities, and that its catalogs and store promotional material feature mostly white models.
Plaintiffs said that they were refused employment as salespeople because of their ethnicity.
The New Albany, Ohio-based company publishes a quarterly magalog, a Web site and has 600 stores and about 22,000 employees.
