24/7 Media to Sell Ads on Juno Online’s Basic ISP Service

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Juno Online Services, Inc., New York, an Internet service provider, has linked with Internet media firm 24/7Media to sell Web-based advertising space on Juno’s free basic service.

Juno had approximately 3.0 million active users in the fourth quarter of 1999, with more than 2.3 million active in the month of December alone. In all, more than 8.1 million Juno accounts have been created since the company’s inception in 1995.

Users of Juno’s free basic service view a persistent advertising and navigation banner at all times while they are connected to the Web. The banner may be moved to any location on a user’s screen, but may not be disabled, re-sized or removed from the screen. As a result, Juno is able to show advertising during the entire duration of a user’s Web session, regardless of what sites the user visits. 24/7 Media will have primary responsibility for ad sales on this Web banner.

All subscribers to Juno’s free basic service complete a detailed member profile questionnaire. Data from this profile, which is kept strictly confidential, is used to target advertising and e-commerce promotions to each subscriber’s interests and demographic characteristics. 24/7 Media will be able to target the advertising it sells through Juno’s system.

The agreement between 24/7 Media and Juno contemplates a multi-year relationship that renews at the end of each year, unless otherwise terminated.
