E-commerce retail sales in the U.S. were $19.8 billion in the second quarter, up a whopping 25.7% compared to the second quarter of 2004, according to a report from the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The report said e-commerce retail sales in second quarter were up 3.5% from the previous quarter.
While the growth of e-commerce retail sales more than tripled the growth of retail sales overall, e-commerce still only accounted for 2.1% of total retail sales during the second quarter. The report’s figures exclude online travel services, financial brokers, ticket sales, manufacturers and wholesalers.
