Ziff-Davis May Sell or Merge Marketing Unit

Ziff-Davis Inc., New York, said Monday that in response to recent third party expressions of interest it is considering the sale or merger of its technology sales and marketing unit, ZD Market Intelligence.

The company has retained the investment banking firm Morgan Stanley Dean Witter to explore strategic alternatives.

This proprietary technology database of 1.7 million contacts is comprised of the large- to medium-sized enterprises that are doing two-thirds of today’s information technology spending. In addition, the company offers access to the ZDMI 10 Million, a database of every business in America.
