ZDNet, the San Francisco-based network of Web sites for people who want to buy, use and learn about technology, has reported its second-quarter revenue rose to $39.2 million. That’s a 71% increase over the $22.9 million in revenue reported in the same quarter of 1999.
ZDNet’s second-quarter operating income was $5.9 million, up approximately 50% when compared to the $4.0 million in operating income reported in the second quarter of 1999. This is the company’s eighth consecutive quarter of operating profitability.
After accounting for non-cash charges and a provision for income taxes, ZDNet reported a net loss for the quarter of $2.6 million versus net income of $816,000 in the second quarter of 1999.
“During the quarter, we expanded our relationships to a record number of advertisers, and increased the number of customers who are taking advantage of ZDNet’s innovative ad targeting capabilities,” said Dan Rosensweig, CEO of ZDNet.
