Yellow Pages ‘Flags and Flagpoles’ Heading Zooms in September

Twenty-three times as many consumers as usual referenced the Yellow Pages “Flags and Flagpoles” heading following the terrorist attacks of September 11, according to data released by the market research arm of Yellow Pages Integrated Media Association.

Metered ad studies showed that the number of calls to a flag manufacturer in a mid-sized Midwestern city last year jumped from its average of about 65 per month to a whopping 1,526 during September 2001. Call volume has since returned to normal.
