Worldata/WebConnect Wins TechTV File

Worldata/WebConnect won management of the new 150,000-record e-mail list from TechTV Family of Lists, effective May 5.

TechTV is the only 24-hour cable television program dedicated to technology. Owned by Paul Allen, who founded Microsoft with Bill Gates, it reaches 30 million households nationwide. The e-mail addressesare provided by viewers who log on to the Web site (www.techtv.com) to buy products, sign up for newsletters or register for special-interest categories.

The master file has been diced up into nine opt-in lists: Government Technology, with 23,938; Computer Professionals, with 32,188; Engineering (19,278); C-Level Executive (13,282); Sales and Marketing Professionals (17,272); Super-Users (56,278); and Business Buyers (62,817).

All of the files cost $200 per thousand.

The TechTV viewer profile includes 76% between the ages of 18 and 49 The average household income is $74,073, and 78% of viewers are college-educated.

Postal records will be available in about a month, said Jay Schwedelson, corporate vice president at Worldata/WebConnect in Boca Raton, FL.

“We’re expecting the file to grow by 200% by the end of the year because of the aggressive approach to collect data on the sites,” Schwedelson said. There are more incentives and the availability of sign-up forms has increased. Also, the program encourages viewers to visit the Web site.
