Warner Bros. Consumer Products Gets FIFA Rights

The Federation Internationale de Football Association has appointed Warner Bros. Consumer Products as its sole and exclusive worldwide licensing representative for the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany in all markets outside Europe and Japan, which allows the company to take charge of the licensing, merchandising, and retail program supporting the tournament.

WBCP will license the rights to use the Official 2006 FIFA World Cup event emblem, Official Mascot, and the FIFA World Cup Trophy for sports apparel and accessories, balls, footwear, bags, toys and games, headwear and pennants.

FIFA reports that official merchandise products of the World Cup have become increasingly popular among the world’s football fans, noting that FIFA World Cup retail sales of licensed goods have tripled since 1994.
