VitaminShoppe.com Inc., New York, an e-commerce provider of vitamins, nutritional supplements and minerals, has reported a net loss for the third quarter of $6.6 million, compared with a $0.8 million loss in the year earlier. For the nine months ended Sept. 30, the net loss was $11.0 million, compared to $1.5 million in 1998.
Net sales reached $3.7 million for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, a 57% increase over the previous quarter and a 258% increase over the third quarter of 1998.
Net sales for the first nine months reached $8.0 million, more than five times the sales of the comparable period last year. This is the first public earnings report for the company, which completed its IPO in last month.
