The volume of direct mail sent by U.K. businesses reached a record 1.5 billion pieces between January and March, according to wire service reports.
According to the country’s Direct Mail Information Service (DMIS), this volume is 4.2% more than that of last year. Firms spent about 658.2 million pounds on producing and sending direct mail , up 4.5 % from nearly 630 million pounds the year before.
Mailings from educational marketing firms rose by 30% in the last quarter compared to the same period in 2002, with financial companies increasing their mailings by 16 %.
Utilities was the only sector to send less direct mail over the last quarter, with mailings dropping by 16 % to 48 million items.
Although business-to-business mailings fell in the last quarter, they steadily increased over the past year.
