Toys “R” Us, Paramus, NJ, aims to be the leader in online retailing for toys and other children’s products by the end of 1999. To do this, the mega-chain has established toysrus.com as a separate subsidiary; has partnered with Benchmark Capital; and has acquired a 500,000 square foot fully-automated, state-of-the-art distribution center.
The new headquarters will be in Silicon Valley, near Benchmark (Menlo Park, CA), which specializes in providing venture capital to new media companies. The distribution center will be in Memphis, TN.
