TOMBSTONE LETS CONSUMERS PICK PRIZES

Through the end of October, Kraft Foods’ Tombstone Pizza runs a Win Whatever You Want sweepstakes with a grand prize of $100,000 to be used any way the winner wants. The instant-win promotion is featured on specially marked packages of Tombstone Pizza. Two hundred first-prize winners get $100 to use any way they want, while 1,000 second-prize winners get their choice of Tombstone Pizza.

While the sweeps itself is fairly standard, Northfield, IL-based Kraft based the open-ended prize on a survey it commissioned by Impulse Research in August that found desired prizes vary dramatically by members of the same family. The study found 67 percent of teens would buy a new car and 63 percent would take a trip. Seventy-nine percent of parents, however, would use the money to pay bills, while 47 percent would take a trip. When presented with specific prize choices, 26 percent of dads selected a cameo in an upcoming movie, while 26 percent of moms selected a private concert with their favorite musician.
