The Urge To Merge Is Up In DM

The Winterberry Group LLC, a direct marketing industry research company, released the first edition of Direct Marketing Services Industry Mergers and Acquisitions Outlook.

Among the findings in the report are that: 72% of direct marketing service company CEOs and senior executives believe that mergers and acquisitions in 1999 will exceed that for 1998; One out of three companies is looking to enter or expand into e-commerce and other Internet services; the DM companies that are the strongest targets for mergers or acquisitions are those involved with e-commerce, Internet services, Web agencies, and database and computer services; and two out of three companies were already approached by potential buyers in 1998.

Winterberry’s CEO Michael Petsky said, “This first-time ever study shines the spotlight on which direct marketing service segments are ripe for consolidation.”
