Telebrands Discontinues Package Insert Program

Telebrands Corp., Fairfield, NJ, abruptly discontinued its package insert program last Friday, leaving thousands of pieces stranded at a California lettershop.

A Telebrands employee said that the program had been difficult to manage.

The program was managed by List Services Corp., Bethel, CT, which faxed a letter on Tuesday to clients using the inserts that read in part, “We would like to know if you would be interested in moving these pieces into a different program.

“One client, who had 50,000 pieces sitting at the lettershop, PDS/promotions Distributor Services Corp. in Pacoima, CA., said that List Services had taken a professional approach in handling the problem. However, he was unhappy that the list management and brokerage firm had been unwilling to pay for the postage and handling necessary to move the pieces to the location of a new program.

Karen LaJoie, sales manager for the Telebrands’ insert program said that five clients use the program and that details of how to handle the problem were still being worked out.

The inserts were delivered in product fulfillment packages to up to 700,000 buyers annually of housewares, kitchen wares, cooking products, clocks and health products.
