Showtime Networks and MSN Video have teamed up to launch a Webisode of Barbershop: The Series to boost viewership of the Showtime version of the show.
Through a partnership with Showtime, MSN Video is making the first episode of the half-hour comedy available for viewing online for free at MSNvideo.com. MSN Video launched the Barbershop pilot on Sunday and will air the Webisode through Aug. 21. In addition, MSN Video will air behind-the-scenes content and clips from each of the series episodes throughout the season for free.
Barbershop: The Series is the first Showtime series episode to be streamed in its entirety on MSN Video.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to introduce our outstanding Showtime programming to a whole new audience,” said Mark Greenberg, Showtime executive VP, in a statement. “We’re confident that once people get a taste of this…they’ll want to sign up for Showtime.”
Based on the MGM hit movie of the same name, the Showtime series version follows the trial and tribulations of the owner of a south side Chicago barbershop and his customers. Barbershop airs at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays on Showtime.
