Sesame Workshop Names Director of International Marketing

Sesame Workshop has hired Debra Regan as director of international marketing, global consumer products and international TV distribution for the non-profit educational organization.

Regan had been director of strategic alliances for Toys “R” Us, Inc. She will set marketing strategy for international brands including Sesame Street, Elmo’s World and Dragon Tales, and oversee international promotions, marketing communications and trade show activities.

In other news, Sesame Workshop has unveiled an international section of its Web site featuring a multi-lingual game and information on co-productions of Sesame Street. The Footprints game was created as an extension of the Workshop’s continuing initiative to encourage kids to appreciate cultural diversity.

Viewers can choose to play the match game with one of the international characters, which speak in their native language, such as Zeliboba from Russia, Lola from Mexico or Samson from Germany. In addition, the site provides information on 10 of the Workshop’s 20 international co-productions of Sesame Street.
