As part of ongoing promotions for its 35th anniversary, Sesame Street is launching a sweepstakes this June featuring character-themed prizes.
“We wanted to tie in to the recognition people have with our characters and target adults 18 and older, both parents and non-parents who have a love for Sesame Street,” said Jodi Lefkowitz, spokesperson for Sesame Workshop.
Families will have a chance to enter the sweeps online through October, at www.sesameworkshop.org/35/ to win a variety of prizes based on popular characters from the show. The Elmo prize is a Sony home entertainment system; the Oscar prize features an entire year of Molly Maid service; the Global Grover prize is a vacation at a Four Points by Sharaton location; the Big Bird prize flies a winner south for a Busch Gardens Tampa adventure; the Cookie Monster prize is a $10,000 Merrill Lynch college fund and finally, the Bert and Ernie prize is a four-year long set of Loews Cineplex movie passes.
From June 6-19, Sesame Street will have a presence at Kmart in a promotion sponsored by Pampers. Consumers can enter to win a their own birthday party.
Throughout the year, the anniversary will be supported by a home video release in August of The Street We Live On; a series of products including figurines and action figures will be released over the next few months targeting the adult collector and a Sesame Street Monopoly game is set to debut later this year.
Minneapolis-based Carlson Marketing Group solicited and secured partners for the sweeps; Ryan Partnership, based in Wilton, CT, will manage and execute the sweepstakes and Manhasset, NY-based Marden-Kane developed the interactive Web site for sweepstakes entry.
