Rodale Inc., in partnership with Beliefnet Inc., will publish a book in response to the terrorist attacks and donate all profits from the sale of the book to the children of fallen firefighters.
The book, From the Ashes: a Spiritual Response to the Attack on America, Experience, Strength, and Hope from Spiritual Leaders and Extraordinary Citizens, is expected to be shipped to bookstores on Oct. 11.
Profits from the book will be donated to the “NYC Bravest Scholarship Fund,” for the education of the children of firefighters who lost their lives in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The book will contain essays and comments from a variety of spiritual, religious and inspirational leaders across all beliefs. Also to be included are the thoughts of everyday citizens on such topics as grief, retribution and justice, forgiveness, heroism and acts of kindness, evil, anger, service, children and other topics.
“It is our hope that the book will give comfort to its readers and that the money raised by this project will give aid to those most immediately affected by this devastating act of terrorism,” Stephen P. Murphy, president and COO of Rodale said in a statement.
From the Ashes will be published simultaneously on audiocassette and CD.
