According to a recent report from Affiliate Window, 22 percent of affiliate marketing campaign traffic and 18 percent of affiliate sales is coming through mobile devices, up significantly from previous years.
The report, “M-Commerce: The Complete Picture,” is the third edition of the series, which began in early 2011. Back then, traffic and sales from mobile devices was quite small. “Since then it’s fair to say we’ve been on a mobile journey, watching as the landscape shifted, changed and developed with m-commerce establishing itself as a topic close to our hearts,” the report notes in its introduction. Affiliate Window calls the mobile performance channel one that is changing the digital ecosystem in big ways on an almost daily basis.
Traffic
Back in January 2011, Affiliate Window found that 2.3 percent of traffic came from smartphones and tablets. In May 2013, more than 1 in 5 clicks came through one of these devices.
Affiliate Window also breaks out the traffic attributed to mobile handsets only, reporting that 13.6 percent of affiliate traffic came through smartphones in May. Back in January 2011, less than 2 percent of traffic was coming through smartphones.
