James de Castro, president of AOL Interactive Services is leaving the company after seven months.
According to news reports, de Castro had been in line for the CEO’s position at America Online when Jon Miller, a former USA Interactive executive, was named to the post in August. At the time, de Castro indicated that he might leave the company.
In the interim, employees will report to Ted Leonsis, vice chairman of America Online Inc., Dulles, VA.
His departure follows a number changes in senior-level management at AOL including Jan Brandt who stepped down as vice chair and chief marketing officer of AOL to take a part-time consultative position.
