PMA Appoints Carlson As President

The Promotion Marketing Association has appointed Bonnie J. Carlson as president, effective immediately.

Carslon, a member of the PMA since 1985, had been interim president since March 12.

She previously worked as vice president of integrated marketing for ConAgra Foods Retail Products, where she handled the integrated marketing function and launched shopper-marketing initiatives across the company’s four divisions and portfolio of 70 brands.

Carlson replaces Claire Rosenzweig, who had held the post for nearly 11 years (Promo Xtra, Feb. 22, 2007).

The appointment comes as the PMA unveiled a new logo and brand identity, which includes expanding its mission to take on integrated marketing. Its goal is to help marketers achieve specific brand-building goals through resources, education, networking and community, the organization said.

The PMA is expected to reveal further details about its new positioning on Thursday at the 29th Annual Law Conference in Chicago.
