Playboy Enterprises, Inc. had first quarter revenue of $66.1 million, up slightly from $65.4 million in first quarter 2001. The Chicago-based media company trimmed its net loss from $11.8 million to $9.4 million during the same period. The quarter ended March 31.
The quarter’s revenue growth was held back by the absence of revenue from the Collector’s Choice Music catalog, which the company sold during the fourth quarter of 2001.
Playboy’s Online division racked up $6.4 million in revenue, down slightly from the $6.8 million it realized a year ago. Online revenue included earnings from newly launched sites in Germany and Korea, as well as revenue from online gaming, a source the company did not have a year ago.
