The PGA Tour is taking a cause-related tact at next month’s Travelers Championship, with a forum promoting men’s health awareness during the three-day tournament.
“Men’s Health Week on the PGA Tour” at the Championship, June 16-22, occurs during the national observance of Men’s Health Month. The central event will be a Men’s Health Player Forum on June 18, featuring a panel of health experts and a question and answer session with three PGA professionals. Jeffrey Fronk, personal trainer for Vijay Singh and Golf Digest editor Ron Kapriske, will also participate.
The objective of the forum is to provide preventive health advice. A Men’s Health expo on-site will offer men a variety health screenings and samples.
Concession stands will provide healthy eating options and a special course map will be available to enable fans to plot the distances they walk as they follow players around the golf course.
“Because the appeal of the PGA Tour is so strong for men and boys, it was a natural fit,” said Travelers Championship spokeswoman Anne Marie McLaughlin. “You’re getting activity playing or walking.”
