International retailer and cataloger Laura Ashley Holdings Plc, London, named televangelist and conservative gadfly Pat Robertson a non-executive director of the apparel and home-furnishings company.
Robertson, the company claims, was appointed because of his knowledge of the North American market. Robertson owns approximately 2 million shares, according Laura Ashley Holdings.
The company’s sales have been declining and its shares have dropped 93% over the past two years.
